Circle K is a convenience store chain that originated from the United States. Currently, however, the chain is owned and operated by Canadian retail company, Alimentation Couche-Tard. The company operates in 26 countries, with over 16,000 stores under different brands, including Statoil, Topaz and Kangaroo Express. Circle K has its headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, in the United States.

History of Circle K

The company was founded by Fred Hervey in 1951 in El Paso, Texas. He originally named the store “Circle K”, to emphasize the familiar shape of the “circled K” logo. Fred Hervey opened the first Circle K store in 1951, but the company did not become a chain until 1958, when the second store was opened. A few years later, in 1963, Circle K went public on the American Stock Exchange.

In 1999, Circle K declared bankruptcy and was subsequently acquired by Canadian firm Alimentation Couche-Tard in 2003. With the acquisition, Circle K became part of one of the largest convenience store chains in the world.

Products and Services

Circle K stores typically offer tobacco products, soft drinks, energy drinks, snacks, candy, magazines, and pharmaceutical products like over-the-counter drugs.

Food and drink items sold by Circle K stores include coffee, iced coffee, frozen drinks, fountain drinks, hot dogs, and roller grill food items. Many Circle K stores also have an in-store bakery where they sell freshly baked goods like donuts, muffins, and cookies.

Circle K stores often sell gasoline, and most locations have a car wash.

Circle K has launched its own product line that customers can purchase in-store. The product line includes snacks, drinks, and bottled water.

In recent years, Circle K has expanded its product range to the home-delivery market. They now offer home-delivery services for food, groceries, and stationary.

Circle K locations can be found in 26 countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and the Dominican Republic.

Circle K also has a rewards program where customers can earn points and savings on in-store purchases.
